The site for this house was a previously developed lot overlooking Ryder’s Cove in North Chatham, MA. There were significant permitting challenges that required creativity and compromise in the siting of the house and detached garage as well as the pool and decks. We were able to take full advantage of the expansive water views on the north side of the house while still allowing plenty of southern light inside. A priority for the exterior of the house was to balance traditional Cape/Chatham forms and materials in deference to its location with the clients’ desire for a more modern aesthetic.

Energy efficient aspects of this home include triple glazed doors and windows, all electric mechanical systems, above code R values with continuous exterior insulation, non-PVC based trim and siding, PV ready orientation and pre-wire, and locally sourced wood flooring and ceilings.
